Let's start by settling an argument for you, Miele is pronounced "Mee-Luh" and not "Miley" or "Meeley" or "Mee-Yay". The name is now almost 100 years old.

The original name was actually Meteor, which, let's face it, is far easier to pronounce. However, in the 1920s the name became the same one we associate with "performance" today. Miele's first machines were for separating cream and chunring butter - wow, kitchens have seriously changed over the last century! At the same time as the home dairy making machines Miele also lanched a tub washing machine during the twenties. No wonder their washers and dryers are so good, with 100 years of engineering know-how.
